NFL Weeks 3&4 Recap
Two Weeks of Chaos, Statement Wins & One Big Apology
First off, I owe you guys an apology.
I completely missed the Week 3 NFL recap, and that's on me. There was way too much going on around the NFL to skip a week, especially with some absolutely wild games taking place.
So instead of pretending Week 3 didn't happen, we're doing this the right way: Week 3 AND Week 4 in one massive recap.
And after these last two weeks, one thing is clear:
The NFL is starting to separate the contenders from the pretenders.
WEEK 3: THE NFL STARTED GETTING CRAZY
Week 3 gave us everything you want from the NFL — close games, surprise teams, undefeated teams staying perfect, and some teams already looking like they're in serious trouble.
Chiefs Keep Rolling
Kansas City took care of Miami 24-10, moving to 3-0.
The Chiefs haven't necessarily looked unbeatable, but that's what makes them dangerous. They're finding ways to win games without needing everything to go perfectly.
Patrick Mahomes continues to be Patrick Mahomes, and Kansas City once again looks like one of the teams everyone in the AFC is going to have to go through.
49ers Stay Perfect
San Francisco beat Arizona 36-30 to move to 3-0.
The 49ers haven't been flawless, but the offense continues to produce and Brock Purdy is looking extremely comfortable.
San Francisco has quickly become one of the biggest teams to watch in the NFC.
Jaguars Destroy Patriots
Jacksonville absolutely destroyed New England 35-6.
This was one of the biggest statements of Week 3.
The Jaguars improved to 2-1, while New England dropped to 1-2.
Jacksonville looked like a completely different team from the one we saw last season, and this is a team that deserves more attention going forward.
Ravens Beat Cowboys in Brazil
One of the games of the week took place internationally.
Baltimore defeated Dallas 34-31 in Brazil in a game that came down to the wire.
The Ravens improved to 2-1, while Dallas fell to 1-2.
For Dallas, the biggest problem continues to be consistency. They have enough talent to beat anybody, but they're struggling to put together complete games.
Baltimore, meanwhile, looked like a team that can compete with anybody in the AFC.
Raiders Start 3-0
Las Vegas defeated New Orleans 35-27, moving to 3-0.
The Raiders have been one of the biggest surprises of the season.
Nobody expected Las Vegas to come out of September undefeated, but here we are.
The question now becomes simple:
Are the Raiders actually contenders, or are they going to come crashing back down to earth?
We're going to find out very soon.
Vikings Stay Undefeated
Minnesota beat Tampa Bay 23-16 and improved to 3-0.
The Vikings haven't been flashy, but they've consistently found ways to win.
At 3-0, Minnesota officially earned the right to be taken seriously.
Broncos Get a Big Win
Denver rallied to beat the Rams 30-26 after trailing 26-0.
Yes.
26-0.
That comeback was one of the craziest stories of the week.
The Rams completely collapsed, while Denver showed tremendous fight.
For Sean Payton and the Broncos, that could end up being a defining win early in the season.
WEEK 3 WINNERS
Jacksonville Jaguars — 2-1 and coming off a 35-6 destruction.
San Francisco 49ers — 3-0 and looking like a legitimate NFC contender.
Las Vegas Raiders — 3-0 and one of the biggest surprises in football.
Minnesota Vikings — quietly sitting at 3-0.
Denver Broncos — coming back from 26-0 is absolutely insane.
WEEK 3 LOSERS
New England Patriots — Getting blown out 35-6 is unacceptable.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers — Dropping to 0-3.
Miami Dolphins — Falling to 0-3 after another offensive struggle.
Dallas Cowboys — 1-2 with plenty of questions.
Los Angeles Rams — Blowing a 26-0 lead is something that can't happen.
WEEK 4: THE CONTENDERS START SHOWING THEMSELVES
If Week 3 was about surprises, Week 4 was about statement games.
And we got some massive ones.
COWBOYS 34, TEXANS 30
Game of the Week.
Dallas entered Houston at 1-2.
Houston entered the game at 0-3.
Both teams desperately needed a win.
And we got an absolute thriller.
The Cowboys came back from a 10-point halftime deficit and won 34-30 on a late CeeDee Lamb touchdown.
Lamb was unbelievable:
17 receptions.
189 yards.
Game-winning touchdown. That is an absurd performance.
Javonte Williams also scored three rushing touchdowns in the second half, while Dak Prescott threw for 335 yards.
For Houston, this is becoming a nightmare start.
The Texans are now 0-4, despite C.J. Stroud throwing for 347 yards and two touchdowns.
Houston has talent.
But at some point, the losses have to stop.
CHIEFS 30, RAIDERS 27
The AFC West matchup lived up to the hype.
Kansas City improved to 4-0, while Las Vegas dropped to 3-1.
Kenneth Walker III was the difference-maker for Kansas City, rushing for 177 yards and two touchdowns.
Patrick Mahomes also came through when the Chiefs needed him most.
The Raiders fought all the way back, but Mahomes and Kansas City made the plays late.
At 4-0, the Chiefs are officially the team everyone in the AFC is chasing.
RAMS 24, EAGLES 20
The Rams finally got redemption.
After blowing a massive lead against Denver in Week 3, Los Angeles went into Philadelphia and beat the Eagles 24-20.
And they did it by coming back late.
Kyren Williams scored two fourth-quarter touchdowns, including the go-ahead score with just over a minute left.
For the Rams, this was huge.
They showed that they could actually close a game after failing to do so the previous week.
Philadelphia, meanwhile, drops to 2-2 and has some serious questions to answer.
VIKINGS 15, DOLPHINS 10
Minnesota is officially 4-0.
The Vikings don't always look spectacular, but they keep winning.
T.J. Hockenson had 13 catches for 119 yards, while Minnesota's defense held Miami to just 10 points.
Miami?
0-4.
At this point, the Dolphins are one of the biggest disappointments in the NFL.
49ERS 24, BRONCOS 14
San Francisco continues to roll.
The 49ers improved to 4-0 with a 24-14 win over Denver.
Brock Purdy continues to play extremely efficiently, while Christian McCaffrey and the San Francisco offense continue to make enough plays.
The 49ers are one of only a few teams that have looked consistently good through four weeks.
SEAHAWKS 30, CHARGERS 23
Seattle moved to 3-1 with a win over Los Angeles.
Emanuel Wilson was a huge factor, scoring twice.
Meanwhile, the Chargers fell to 0-4.
That's a shocking start for a team with legitimate playoff expectations entering the season.
The Chargers have now officially entered "something has to change" territory.
PANTHERS 32, LIONS 26
One of the biggest surprises of the week.
Carolina beat Detroit 32-26 behind an incredible performance from Tetairoa McMillan.
McMillan finished with:
14 receptions
192 yards
2 touchdownsBryce Young also threw for 329 yards and two touchdowns.
The Panthers moved to 2-2, while Detroit fell to 2-2.
The Lions can't afford to let games like this continue slipping away.
PATRIOTS 29, BILLS 26What a win for New England.
Drake Maye delivered a huge late touchdown pass, and the Patriots pulled off the upset against Buffalo.
The Bills entered the game undefeated.
They didn't leave that way.
For New England, this could be the kind of win that changes the trajectory of the season.
RAVENS 24, TITANS 18
Baltimore improved to 3-1, but the biggest storyline wasn't the final score.
It was Lamar Jackson's ankle injury.
Jackson left the game after taking a sack, and Tyler Huntley finished the game.
Baltimore had a 24-7 halftime lead before Tennessee fought all the way back.
The Ravens survived, but everyone will be watching Lamar's injury situation closely.
BEARS 23, JETS 12
Chicago continues to look better.
The Bears defeated New York 23-12, while the Jets continue to struggle.
Chicago is beginning to look like a team that could surprise people in the NFC.
The Jets?
They have a lot of work to do.
THE BIGGEST STORYLINES AFTER FOUR WEEKS
1. Kansas City Is 4-0
At this point, there's no debate.
The Chiefs are one of the favorites to win the AFC.
2. San Francisco Is 4-0
The 49ers are right there with Kansas City as one of the league's most impressive teams.
3. Minnesota Is 4-0
Maybe the biggest surprise of them all.
The Vikings haven't dominated everyone, but they're undefeated.
And undefeated is undefeated.
4. Houston Is 0-4
This is the biggest disappointment in the AFC.
The Texans have talent.
They have C.J. Stroud.
They have weapons.
But they're still 0-4.
5. Miami Is 0-4
Another massive disappointment.
The Dolphins simply haven't been able to put together consistent offensive performances.
6. The Chargers Are 0-4
This one is even more shocking.
Los Angeles was expected to compete for the playoffs.
Instead, they're winless through four weeks.

So yes...
