SYG 9/6/26 12:00 pm College Football Week 1 Recap: The Top 5 Biggest Takeaways College football is officially back, and Week 1 wasted no time reminding everyone why this sport is so unpredictable. Saturday's first slate was CRAZY!!! The opening weekend gave us dominant performances from national contenders, a few major scares, an instant classic finish, and one of the biggest statement wins of the weekend in Baton Rouge. While it is way too early to crown a national champion, Week 1 gave us plenty of clues about which teams could be playing deep into December. If Rone represented the strategic side of Surviving Barstool, Beers and Marty repre...

SYG Notre Dame Opens South Bend With a Statement: Irish Crush Rice 52-0 The Notre Dame Fighting Irish officially opened the doors of Notre Dame Stadium for the 2026 season, and they wasted absolutely no time reminding everyone why they entered the season as one of the top teams in the country. After a convincing 41-13 victory over Wisconsin at Lambeau Field, No. 3 Notre Dame returned home Saturday afternoon and completely dismantled the Rice Owls, cruising to a 52-0 shutout victory in front of a packed crowd in South Bend. From the opening whistle, this game never felt competitive. Irish Defense Sets the Tone The biggest takeaway from Saturday's performance was the dominance of the Notre Dame defense. Rice entered the game coming off a 31-3 victory over Houston Christian in which the Owls rushed for an incredible 465 yards. That rushing attack never came close to finding the same success against the Irish. Notre Dame's defense completely suffocated Rice, preventing the Owls ...
